Eyelid Surgery

Have you ever thought about how much you depend on your eyes every day?

We often take our eyes for granted. Yet they are among our most powerful tools for communication. Often people can tell at a glance how you are feeling, just from the messages conveyed in your facial expressions and in particular, your eyes.

Excess skin and puffiness can give wrong impressions about what you are thinking and feeling. It can even affect the way you feel about yourself and limit your vision. As we get older, typically, our eyes are the first place to show signs of aging. They get more exercise than any other part of the face. In fact, combined with hereditary factors, sun damage, stress and fatigue, the results of excess skin or fat deposits, are not surprising. Is Eyelid Surgery For You?

Helpful question to ask oneself to determine if you would benefit from upper eyelid surgery are:

When you look in the mirror, does excess skin on your eyelid rest on your eyelashes?

Do you find it difficult to apply makeup on your upper eyelid?

Do you find it difficult to see traffic using your car mirrors without adjusting your head position?

Upper eyelid surgery is a procedure utilized to remove any excess skin that rests on your eyelashes. The extra skin can cause your upper eyelid to be less visible, thus making it difficult to apply makeup. In some cases, the excess skin or hooding of the upper eyelid may also reduce your vision.

A helpful question to ask oneself to determine if you would benefit from lower eyelid surgery are:Are you experiencing a bulging or sagging under your eyes?

Lower eyelid surgery is a procedure that removes excess skin, bags or pouches that develop under the eye.

Other indicators that eyelid or an eyebrow surgery may be helpful are deep lines in the forehead that are caused by continual lifting of the brows to improve your vision as well as an eyelid that rests across the pupil.
